Betty and I took the ferry from Larkspur to San Francisco to just walk around and enjoy the holiday sights. Below is a view of the Bay Bridge which connects Oakland to San Francisco.
There are numerous public piers on the bay side of San Francisco and you can almost always find someone fishing as you stroll around.Like most big cities, San Francisco has its cadre of street artists.
We stopped at Fisherman's Wharf for the obligatory shrimp or crab cocktail and strolled around behind Alioto's restaurant to sit on the pier, eat our snack with the fishing boats and enjoy the sunshine.
Yes, San Francisco still has a large fleet of working fishing boats that are especially busy during crab season.
The best hot fudge sundaes in the City can be enjoyed at Ghirardelli's chocolate factory just up from the Embarcadero, near the cable car turn around.
A view of the Golden Gate Bridge looking across the lawns of Aquatic Park.Coit Tower at sunset. This was taken from the cable car that we rode from Fisherman's Wharf to Union Square. This view is looking east with the Bay Bridge in the background. Looking down on the Union Square ice rink from the restaurant where we had lunch.
The Christmas Tree and Menorah in Union Square. We were here on the first day of Hanukkah and a large crowd of people are gathered for the lighting of the first candle.
We even saw an angel - it's such a magical place :)
The "small" tree in the lobby of Neiman Marcus.
Looking back up Maiden Lane towards Union Square with the Westin St. Francis Hotel in the background. This street was so named during the bawdy days of San Francisco when it was home to the local red-light district.
Ice skating is a holiday treat here. People are all bundled up because the temperature was in the 50's!!!
The San Francisco holiday skyline, looking west from the end of Market Street.
A short walk took us back to the ferry building (Pier 1) where we boarded the boat for the trip back to Larkspur. It was a good day.
